Active Treaties
Krill Preservation Treaty (2022)
Multilateral -- Birdland, Norway, New Zealand, Chile, Australia, United Kingdom
Establishes international quotas on krill harvesting in the Southern Ocean. Includes monitoring provisions, enforcement mechanisms, and a five-year review cycle. Widely regarded as the most significant conservation treaty in Birdland's history.
New Zealand -- Birdland Bilateral Conservation Treaty (2024)
Bilateral -- Birdland, New Zealand
A comprehensive framework for joint conservation efforts, including shared research stations, cooperative wildlife monitoring, and mutual support in international forums. The treaty also governs the exchange of diplomatic personnel.
Diplomatic Access Framework (2020)
Domestic legislation with international recognition
While technically a domestic act of Parliament, the Diplomatic Access Framework has been recognized by 12 nations as the governing document for human access to Birdland's territory. It establishes the permit system, visitor quotas, and environmental compliance requirements.
Territorial Waters Protection Act (2019)
Domestic legislation
Restricts commercial fishing and other extractive activities within 200 nautical miles of Birdland's coastline. Enforcement is coordinated with willing international partners.
